How to organize recipe screenshots on iPhone

A useful recipe system keeps the dish name, source, ingredients, and the part you plan to cook. The screenshot can stay as proof or leave your camera roll after you save those details.

Start with the recipe name

Rename the saved result with words you would search later, such as “crispy tofu rice bowl” or “one-pan lemon chicken.” A title like “TikTok recipe” forces you to remember the platform and creator.

Keep the source

Save the website, creator name, restaurant, cookbook, or social account with the recipe. Use the original link when the screenshot includes one. The source helps you recover missing steps and credit the person who published the recipe.

Separate ingredients from instructions

A recipe screenshot may show the ingredient list, the method, or one cooking tip. Save the visible text in a Bloop Note. Add missing context in your own words, such as oven temperature, serving size, or the substitution you plan to try.

Turn ingredients into a grocery list

Move the items you need into a list. Keep pantry staples out if you already have them. Apple Reminders can organize grocery items into sections, and Bloop can prepare a list action from useful screenshot text for your review.

Use categories that match the next step

Add a reminder only when the recipe has a real time commitment, such as “prepare dough Friday night.” A cooking time printed inside the recipe does not need a calendar event.

Process a recipe screenshot with Bloop

  1. Select the recipe screenshot in Bloop.
  2. Use Quick Scan for local text extraction or Bloop it for a summary and category.
  3. Review the recipe title, ingredients, link, and any suggested note or list action.
  4. Save the result, then decide whether you still need the screenshot in Photos.
Create a “Cook next” filter.

Keep a short list of three to five recipes you plan to make. Leave the rest in searchable Food & Restaurants or Ideas & Notes categories.

Review recipes before grocery day

Choose recipes before you build the shopping list. This prevents a folder of appealing dishes from turning into a cart full of unrelated ingredients. Archive or delete recipes you tested and disliked.
